New Delhi: Missile strikes on Syria by the United States and its allies was a pre-planned aggression against the Arab nation, Syrian envoy to India has said.
"This is American war against Syrian government because Syrian government has taken independent decisions, Syria is against American interventions in the Middleeast that's why they are hitting Syria," Ambassador Dr Riad Abbas told India Today.
"The US and allies attacked us with more than 150 missiles but (there was) not much damage on the ground since our army were able to shoot down most of them," he claimed.
Dr Abbas said, "We have full faith in our allies and by the wish of our people, we will fight against any aggression against our country."
"We have a strong army and big allies, that's why we have announced that we will respond to any aggression, we will not surrender our sovereignty and resist any external intervention," he further added.
Reacting to the allegations against the Syrian government for using chemical weapons, the Ambassador called it a big joke.
"Whenever our army wins against the terror groups they create this lie of chemical weapon. International committee has investigated and the UN also announced that Syria has no chemical weapons because we had surrendered all chemical weapons to UN two years ago, we don't use chemical weapons and no need to use it against our people" he said.
Dr Abbas claimed that the film showing chemical attack on civilians was fabricated by British Intelligence and said that it was strange that America was taking such decisions on the basis of a fabricated film.
"Where is the UN constitution, all countries need to raise their voice to protect UN decisions, all countries should contend this American aggression towards our country.
Reacting to claim by US forces in international media that the missiles hit chemical laboratories on outskirts of Damascus, Dr Abbas said, "They are liars, we don't have chemical weapons and we don't have to use it in future, we are a strong country, we fight against America, first they used mercenaries to fight against our army, but we defeated them and now we are face to face with America, this is what we have been saying to the world."
