New Delhiinfo-icon: - Israelinfo-icon and Indiainfo-icon are expected to sign a deal for the sale of 4,500 anti-tank Spike missiles to India worth $500 million, mediainfo-icon outlets in India reported Tuesday.

If approved by the Indian government, Defense Ministry director-general Udi Adam is expected to sign the agreement during a visit in India next week.

Spike is a portable "fire and forget" anti-tank missileinfo-icon produced by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, a government-owned firm.

India's Defense Ministry pulled out of a similar deal last year fearing the purchase of Israeli anti-tank missiles could harm the development of Indian anti-tank missile systems.

The original deal was for the purchase of 5,000 spike missiles made by Rafael and the production of 3,000 additional Spike missiles by India.

Isreali Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited India in January and declared that the "Spike deal is back on the table."
