TEHRAN: Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Monday called on Iran's Judiciary to pursue issues like Kashmir and Myanmar legally and adopt official position on such international issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with high ranking members of Iran's judiciary, including Chief Justice Sadeq Amoli Larijani.
"The Judiciary should intervene from a legal position in such issues as sanctions, US confiscations and terrorism or [come out] in support of downtrodden personalities in the world such as Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky or the Muslims of Myanmar and Kashmir," Press TV quoting the Supreme Leader reported.
In such issues, Ayatollah Khamenei said, the Judiciary should "decisively declare its supportive position or opposition so it is reflected across the world."
While Kashmir is gripped in decades of bloody conflict with Muslim majority seeking their right to decide their political destiny, Myanmar has been accused of leading a systematic deadly campaign of suppression against its Muslim community.
Nigeria has jailed leading Muslim cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and has launched a crackdown on his supporters, killing hundreds, including his three sons.
This is the second time that Ayatollah Khamenei has referred to Kashmir in last 10 days.Ayatollah Khamenei, during his Eid-al-Fitr sermon urged the Muslims worldwide to support the people of Kashmir, who according to him, faced oppression even during the fasting month of Ramadan.
Revolutionary leader told a gathering at Tehran's Great Musalla (Prayer Ground) which was also attended by Iranian President and top military commanders, besides diplomats from Muslim nations, that the Islamic world must explicitly support the oppressed people of Yemeni, Bahrain and Kashmir. "They must express their disavowal and aversion of tyrants and oppressors who assaulted them in the way you saw during the month of Ramadan."
Leader of Iran warned against numerous cultural influences by enemies and urged the Islamic community to slam oppressors who invade innocent people, including Yemenis, Bahrainis and Kashmiris, in the fasting month of Ramadan.
He invited the Islamic world, its intellectuals in particular, to announce their stance in a crystal-clear way like Iran does.
