Bangkok: A fund raiser luncheon and a cultural event for women empowerment projects attracted enthusiastic response here on Monday.
The event "Glows Antakshari Competetion" was organised by Global Welfare Society of Thailand.
In line with Glows work in the past, this event was a Charity Luncheon along with Antakshari (Musical) towards 'Women Empowerment Drive' project. The event marked the completion of four years of Glows Thailand. Proceeds were donated to Good Shepherd Sisters Home Bangkok to support the women under vocational training projects.
The program included a variety of other activities like promoting local vendors, talk by motivational speakers, cultural performances by international community, lucky draw and of course the highlight of the day was Glows Antakshari.
There were five participating teams from all age groups. The winner of the contest was GLOWS MASTANE, 1st Runner up GLOWS DEEWANE, 2nd Runner Up GLOWS TARANE.
Slogan of this "Charity Luncheon" was Moving from Urban to Rural, "Know Your Worth - Women You Are Beautiful". "Those who are empowered can empower others. Empower & Get Empowered", said Ashu Khurana, President Global Welfare Society of Thailand.
"We had performers from different nationalities and we had arranged the facility of most reasonable vendor tables at 500Thai baht each for few women who run small home based industry or are doing some small scale business", she said.
This women networking over an informal fun filled event was not only aimed at helping women in urban sector but to help extend more helping hands to conduct training workshops for underprivileged and refugees, Khurana added.
