A man who was the mirror image of a robber who served 17 years in jail for the crime he never did, now wants one million dollars in compensation for the jail time he spent, Mail Online reported.

Richard Jones, the unfortunate victim, was incarcerated in the wake of a man robbing a woman off her cellphone outside a Walmart in Kansas City.

Jones who was a lookalike of the actual culprit, fell into the hands of the police after the victim filed a case.

Witnesses also described the man as "light-skinned Hispanic or African-American man" who had "long hair pulled back" and these details matched with him.

Jones was said to be at his girlfriend's house, notwithstanding, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison after the victim identified him as the robber and also due to his record of convictions.

Jones was released just last year after a team from the Innocence Project tracked down his doppelganger, Rick Amos, who lived near the Walmart.
