An Indian man was arrested, on Monday, for impersonating al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, Indian Express reported.
Saddam Hussain Mansur was trying to make an identity card in the name of the feared terrorist who was killed by US troops in 2011.
"The complaint said that a few days back Mansuri tried to enroll an Aadhar card on Osama bin Laden's name and filled Abbottabad, district Bhilwara as Laden's address. He only uploaded a blurred picture of Laden, but did not (include) other important and requisite details," India's Mandal Superintendent of Police Chanchal Mishra said. "The glaring loophole came in notice of the UDAI, which directed the concerned officials to lodge a police complaint," he added.
He worked as an operator at Unique Identification Authority of India (UDAI) based in Mandal in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district.
FIR against Saddam was registered by the Rajasthan Police on complaint by Sanjay Aludia who serves Mandal's IT department. The area's SHO said further investigation is underway as to know why the accused wanted to have the identity card in the name of a militant leader.
Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was shot dead deep inside Pakistan in a night-time helicopter raid by US covert forces, ending a decade-long manhunt for the mastermind of the September 11 attacks.
