The Police in Pakistan's Islamabad arrested a suspect who gunned down a man in early December of last year on the complaint of the victim's wife, Sabzi Mandi for allegedly killing Faizullah.
The case was handed over to the homicide investigation unit of the investigation branch of the capital police force. Police said the suspect had gone into hiding in Lahore and Rawalpindi before he was arrested a few days ago from the Faizabad area in Islamabad.
During interrogation, the suspect told the police investigators that the motive behind the murder was that he was infatuated with the victim's wife Zahida Bibi and had killed her husband so he could marry her. The suspect is a resident of Rawalpindi.
A homicide investigation unit officer told The Express Tribune that the suspect had confessed to murdering Faizullah "as he considered him an obstacle in getting married to his wife".Police said the suspect had a preexisting relationship with the victim's wife.
When asked whether the victim's wife may have conspired with the suspect, the officer said that she played no role and the sole responsibility for the crime lay on the suspect alone. The victim was shot dead with a 30-bore pistol at his house in Sector 1-10/1.
