Two girls in Massachusetts, the United States, have been arrested after a Snapchat video showed them putting a crying baby into a refrigerator. They have been charged with child endangerment and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
According to a report in Washington Post, one of the girls put the wailing baby sideways on a shelf inside the fridge and said 'bye' before shutting the door. Police investigated the incident on Monday after which the girls were arrested.
Essex District Attorney spokesman Steve O'Connell said the girls were arraigned in Essex Juvenile Court in Salem. He did not reveal details since the case involved juveniles.
Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose said the child was in the care of the mother and was doing fine. She said the two accused were her niece and the niece's friend. "I know she wouldn't hurt my daughter and that wasn't her intention. I think it was all foolishness, stupidity. I will no longer be leaving my children with my niece or her friends again ever in my life," she said.
